KAYAK-A-THON 2007

This was an adventurous 14 mile trip down the Intra-coastal from West Palm Beach to Lake Worth

This year the beneficiary of the event was the Palm Beach County Reef Rescue - http://www.reef-rescue.org. They are custodians of our local reefs, ocean, and waterways. Formed by a group of local divers in 2003 and regularly recruiting science professionals in various fields of knowledge for their volunteer input, PBCRR conducts studies on and finds solutions to coral reef diseases and effects from sewage outfall, dredging, and fertilizer runoff. They also stand up against activities and development that does not adhere to EPA standards that are set forth to allow such development.

We raised enough money to fund 5 of their 12 projects for the entire year: PROJECT DETAILS
We had 25 kayakers and over 150 separate contributors!

* Underwater Coastal Cleanup
* Acropora Mapping & Recovery
* Coral Disease Monitoring
* Maze Coral Bleaching Study
* Video & GPS Documentation of Coral Reefs
